LOCAL GROUPS

FOCC UK (Blackburn) - Charity 1049689

Area: This group is based in the Wilpshire/Salesbury area of Blackburn in the beautiful Ribble Valley between Blackburn and Clitheroe, and was the Founder group of the whole Charity, bringing 28 children and 2 interpreters to the area in March 1995 with a further 22 children and 2 interpreters in September 1995. The group was set up by the Founder of the Charity, Olwyn Keogh who decided to recruit some local help after hosting a child Veronica Petrova (now 22 years old) in her home in 1994. The Charity brought together 4 local churches to work as one for the good of the children and did much to promote a "Churches Together " ethos in the area.

Our group continues to be very active. In May 2010 we welcomed our 26th group of children. The group of 22 children soon settled in with their hosts. 15 children were on their 4th visit and have built strong bonds with the hosts and their families.

We had a fabulous month with the children visiting local schools, Camelot, Blackpool Circus, Farmer Parrs Animals World and plenty of swimming. The benefit to the children is plain to see. Throughout the month, with the help of a healthy diet, vitamin supplements and plenty of fresh air, the children’s health improves and this is evident as their complexion improves dramatically and their energy levels certainly increase.

We would be happy to hear from anyone who is interested in our work and would like to support/sponsor or host a child.

Please help us to help these children.
