FOCC Blackrod

Area:  From small beginnings in the village of Blackrod near Bolton, Lancashire, we now have members from a wider area including Chorley, Adlington, Aspull, Great Lever, Westhoughton, Horwich, and Lostock. The group is now over ten years old and in that time we have welcomed more than a hundred children to the area.

In 2006 we will be bringing eighteen children to stay with local host families, and this will be our eleventh visit. During the children’s visit we have a programme of activities running from Monday to Friday based at Blackrod Methodist Hall, and organise trips out to places such as Blackpool, Southport, Rivington, and the Lake District.

Children enjoyed a "training session" at Horwich Fire Station (above) and ice creams went down very well with all the children (below) during the visit in 2005.

The Group meets regularly at St Katharine’s Church, Blackrod, to keep everyone informed of news from Belarus, fundraising events and social activities. We also issue a quarterly newsletter.
