Area:   In 2006 Edinburgh West received 15 children. In 2009 we welcomed our 25 children back. Host families are far and wide ranging from West Lothian to Fountainhall with Edinburgh families in-between.  We would like to hear from anyone who is interested in hosting a child in either Edinburgh, West Lothian or Central Scotland.

The families in Edinburgh West are excited to be receiving three new children in June 2010. They will be sad too though to be saying farewell to 12 of their children whom they have hosted for five visits. The group will be looking for new host families for 2011 to be based Monday to Friday in Edinburgh City Centre. In addition however the co-ordinator is looking for host families and willing fundraisers for a new group of children to be based in West Lothian, commencing October 2010. All families and helpers are checked through Disclosure Scotland. The children who will start in October 2010 will visit Scotland for one month each year for a period of three years. It is the committee’s intention to bring the children primarily from a town just 40 miles from the Chernobyl nuclear plant. These children were visited in October this year by the co-ordinator who was astonished to learn that she and her fellow co-ordinator from Maghull were the first foreigners to visit this village since it was established 23 years ago. These children desperately need a break.
