Become a Host Family

The people of Belarus are in need of your help to give their children a vision of a brighter future. 

There may be little or nothing you can do about the future safety of the nuclear industry, but by having a child from Belarus in your home for a month, by allowing them to breathe clean air, eating fresh wholesome food, and enjoying sharing your family's life , you are giving the people of Belarus hope. Mogilev, the city where our children live is a heavily industrialised, extremely polluted and contaminated city. They desperately need our help.

The Friends of Chernobyl's Children is effective in working with the people of Belarus, regularly visiting the country to negotiate with politicians and officials and visiting doctors, childcare officers and teachers. The message is loud and clear - we must provide children with an escape from this sad and depressing environment and enable them to benefit from a stay with us in the United Kingdom.

As a small independent charity we can guarantee that all funds are used for the stated purposes. None of the workers are paid, all give freely of their time and talents. The volunteer families who offer their homes for one month do so without any recompense.

In order to continue with our work we desperately need to raise money. The air fares for the children are rising each year and it costs hundreds of pounds to bring each child to the UK. If you want to get involved in your area, either in a fund raising capacity or as a host family then please contact us.

Please note that all host families are thoroughly vetted prior to acceptance and will have the full support and guidance from the charity throughout the visits.
