Olwyn Keogh MBE is "Lancashire's Woman of the Year" 2006
Wednesday the 27th of September was an auspicious day for Olwyn Keogh, Chief Executive Director of the "Friends of Chernobyl's Children" charity. Her tireless work over the past twelve years was recognised and honoured when she was officially made Lancashire's "Woman of the Year 2006".
During a luncheon reception Olwyn received the honour from BARNARDOS CHILDREN'S CHARITY, one of the largest charities in the country, after she had been nominated by people who had expressed their feelings thus:
"Our admiration for this lady is unlimited; she is the hardest working person we know."
"I feel quite strongly that Olwyn has not received any recognition for her devotion and determination over the past years, except the love and admiration of all who know her.. she is truly an amazing lady."
"I can think of no person more deserving of 'The Lancashire Woman of the Year' Award. I commend Olwyn Keogh to you without reserve."
Everyone within every branch of the charity's nationwide family are thrilled not only to see Olwyn recognised by her home county but the superb work of the charity receiving the respect it so richly deserves.
Olwyn says:
"The charity's success is due to the hard work and sheer determination of so many people. Our group co-ordinators, all the host families and helpers, people who offer financial support and donations, trustees and the many more who support FOCC in their own way.
The award belongs to us all. Well done to everyone for making FOCC the respected charity that it is today."
