General background:

The Lancaster Group brought their first group of 14 children across in June 2011 for a very successful visit. The children came from the Chausy, Cherikov, Kostokovichi and Mogilev areas and arrived at Manchester Airport tired, nervous and excited and  with few personal belongings.  

During their stay they had dental and eye checks, did projects with local schools and Lancaster University volunteers, visited the Fire Station, Lake District and local parks and beaches. They also went bowling, had their hair done, went to the cinema and tried their hand at pottery.

At the end of their stay they thanked the host families and helpers with a fantastic concert and returned home with a suitcase each of warm clothes, photographs and memories of their time in Lancaster.

With the continuing generosity of Lancaster district residents, these children will return to their host family each year for a total of five years.
